"Yes, Mr. President, we ARE a Christian Nation!"

The Mayflower Compact was the first governing document of Plymouth Colony.

"Being thus arrived in a good harbor and brought safe to land, they fell upon their knees and blessed the God of Heaven who had brought them over the vast and furious ocean."  William Bradford

“Almighty God, by your great mercy we have reached this land, which we now claim and establish for Thy eternal purposes. We ask thee to open hearts and enlighten the understanding of the peoples of these shores to comprehend the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.”

The Mayflower Compact - 1620

We whose names are underwritten, the loyal subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord King James, by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, etc.      Having undertaken, for the Glory of God and advancement of the Christian Faith and Honor of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the First Colony in the Northern Parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, Covenant and Combine ourselves together into a Civil Body Politic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute and frame such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In witness whereof we have hereunder subscribed our names at Cape Cod, the 11th of November, in the year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King James, of England, France and Ireland the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Lizzy, With all due respect...

There is no such thing as a Christian nation.

Jesus said, "If my kingdom were of this world, my followers would take up their swords against you." Instead he handed himself over to be framed, tortured, and murdered. I can think of no act or ideal more impossible for Americans to endorse.

But it's not just Americans, it's everyone on earth... A nation cannot "turn the other cheek" without putting everyone at risk...

The teachings of Jesus are unrelated to nationalism, thus there is no such thing as a Christian nation.

Just my 2 cents.

I will stand corrected Rob. I guess I should have said that our Nation was founded on Christian principles and dedicated to the glory of God.
